There is a common thread in the work by the artists in High Fiber — fabric. Bold, colorful, patterned fabrics inspire the work of Carrie Beth Waghorn, Paul Ferrari, Melanie Parke, and Adrienne Stein.
“It has been a pure dream to paint the fashion my heart yearns to create without bounds,” says Waghorn, who also creates wearable art for her clothing line, World Ink Project.
In addition to Waghorn, Ferrari’s paintings pay homage to his days as a fashion illustrator for Ralph Lauren in New York.
Parkes’ interior paintings are a feast of mixed patterns and bold colors.
And as a painter of female figures, Stein is constantly adorning her models in garments that become the subject of her work as much as the women themselves.
An opening reception will be held in association with the Charleston Gallery Associate Art Walk on Friday, December 6, from 5-8pm. Artists will be in attendance.
