For Marc Hanson’s solo exhibition at Meyer Vogl Gallery, he has decided to focus on the practice of contre-jour, or painting the landscape or subject against the light.

“I love to work this way as it creates some drama, even in less than dramatic situations, and it’s a way of painting that lets me take any landscape and make it something beyond just the subject lit by frontal or three quarter light,” Hanson says. “I think it would be an interesting show to see personally, and one that I’m loving to paint.”
