BUILDING BLOCKS: MARISSA VOGL Solo Exhibition
Marissa Vogl’s work is a response to her observations of life’s beauty. The emotional and energetic response leads to intentional mark-making and exploration of vivid color palettes that create a spontaneous harmony. For this solo exhibition, much of the work was inspired by Vogl's recent trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and the stunning architecture of the historical city.
"I am enjoying this series very much because there is an enormous amount of work that goes into creating subtleties," Vogl says. "The tiniest shifts in value, color, and shapes can be quite complex. To create these more geometric paintings doesn’t come easy for me, and that makes me want to do it more and more.
"San Miguel de Allende is such a special place. The architecture and color is spectacular, but what really captured my heart is that everything is handcrafted. Each building, door, piece of furniture, and even hardware. This really creates a prideful culture. It was just beautiful."
